Further Afield
Our international expeditions are built around time in big landscapes, with enough space to get to know the place, the people and the rhythm of the journey properly.
Most trips begin with a few days in a town or city to settle in, meet the local team, prepare gear and get oriented before heading into the mountains. From there, the route might involve high passes, long trekking days, remote villages, rivers, snow or altitude, depending on where we are and what the trip is built around.
We work with trusted in-country teams and local partners throughout. That might mean guides, porters, cooks, drivers, or pack animals. They are an important part of the trip, not just the logistics behind it, and we aim to work with people who are experienced, fairly paid and deeply connected to the places we travel through.
Accommodation varies from trip to trip and may include tents, tea houses, homestays and hotels. Travel might be on foot, by Jeep or bus, on skis or snowshoes, and occasionally on horseback. The practical details are always made clear before booking.
These are usually our longest and most demanding journeys. That extra time matters. Groups settle in, people get to know each other properly, and the experience becomes about much more than reaching a particular point on the map.
We only run a small number of international expeditions each year. Destinations and routes change over time, allowing us to keep the programme varied and avoid repeatedly leaning on the same places.
